Recently, the dress code of North Korean women has become more free. Ri Sol-ju, the first lady of North Korea, had a lot to do with this phenomenon. Ri first appeared in public in July 2012 as the first lady of North Korea. Her fashion as well as her status came into the spotlight. It was unprecedented and shocking for North Korean women to wear short skirts, high-heels, and to carry luxury purses. Ri Sol-ju started a new fashion fad in North Korea, and relaxed dress code restrictions on women. This is very contradictory to what her husband has done – increase restrictions on all kind of things. Nowadays, North Korean women no longer look for wide and flabby clothes in the market. Now, stylish clothing are the fad.
