U.S. senators reach deal on Russia sanctions

By Patricia Zengerle | WASHINGTON

U.S. senators reached an agreement on Monday on legislation imposing new sanctions on Russia, including a provision that would prevent the White House from easing, suspending or ending sanctions without congressional approval.

The agreement, to be filed as an amendment to an Iran sanctions bill, is intended to punish Russia over issues including its alleged meddling in the 2016 U.S. election, annexation of Ukraine's Crimea region and support for the government of Syria in that country's six-year-long civil war. The Iran bill is due come up for a vote as soon as this week.

Besides the provision setting up a process for Congress to review changes in sanctions, the measure would put into law sanctions previously established via presidential executive order, including some on certain Russian energy projects and debt financing in some industries.

needed, McCain's wife Cindy (a genuinely decent person from what I "hear&quot has a cherry appointment. The Senator has truly proven he lacks the courage of his convictions, shame on you John.

B. I hope he does Veto it...

That would be about as dumb as it would be to fire Rosenstein/Mueller.....
But as we all know...
Intelligence is not part of the *45 equation

*45 is impulsive enough to lift the sanctions
(Exec Order) just to show everyone who is boss.....
That would be Vlad, of course.

Before we celebrate, let's wait a bit. The claim in the Senate is that there are enough votes to overturn a Presidential veto. But the bill must still pass in the House and I have a hard time believing that Paul Ryan, Lapdog in Chief, will choose to spit in Trump's face.
