Canadians, top doctors respond to convoy protest threats, suggestion to avoid scrubs in streets

Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer, stressed that we need to be "grateful" for healthcare workers, after hospital employees in Toronto were advised to not to wear anything to identify them has health workers this weekend, due to a possible "freedom convoy" protest.

"We need to really be grateful and appreciate our health workers and our public health workers because they’ve been working day and night for over two years to try and keep all of us safe, and it’s unacceptable, any kind of hate, any kind of violence should not be tolerated," Dr. Tam said at a press conference on Friday.

"Protests are one thing and should be done peacefully and these are the very people who are trying to help, not only to protect people against COVID-19 but to support the community and all sorts of health issues. If you had an accident, if you need surgical interventions, if you need cancer treatment, so all these workers need to be able to have a safe passage to work and I think that’s critically important."

Jean-Yves Duclos, Canada's health minister, urged all healthcare workers to report any incidents of harassment, intimidation and threats to their local police force.

5. Does Toronto have skyways?

In downtown Minneapolis there is a large network of enclosed pedestrian bridges that makes it possible to walk all through the center of the city, including into and through buildings like the medical center, the courthouse, most office buildings and shopping areas, without ever going outside. If Toronto has skyways, medical staff would be seen in them wearing scrubs. Even if it doesn't, scrub pants, usually blue or green, would be visible below a coat.

6. I don't know about skyways but "scrub pants, usually blue or green, would be visible below a coat."

Me personally, I would not wear just scrub pants when it's 9 degrees out. Snow mobile or ski pants would make sense...

7. Meh. If you're from these latitudes 9 degrees is pretty tolerable.

As long as it's not double digits below zero, a coat over your scrubs will be plenty warm enough.

Then again there is the time factor.. A few seconds of insanity would work, like running from the warm car to the warm hospital...Any longer than that would be painful, yes?
I just looked it up and anything below 32 and skin freezes/frostbite in 30 min..

and slippers, no problem. I wouldn't hang out on the porch for long but it's not that bad if there isn't much wind.
