Israel’s Netanyahu Vows ‘Harsh Offensive’ in Response to Wave of Violence

Gee, who could have predicted this?

JERUSALEM — Under heavy domestic pressure from critics on both the right and left, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel threatened on Sunday to wage a “harsh offensive against Palestinian Islamic terrorism” as he arrived back to a country battered by a wave of deadly violence.

“We are in an all-out war against terrorism and we will wage it aggressively,” Mr. Netanyahu wrote in a Facebook post as he was on his way back from New York, where he spoke last week at the United Nations. He said he was heading straight from the airport to a meeting with his top security officials.

But returning to a country in a grim mood on the eve of a Jewish holiday that was meant to bring a festive end of the High Holy Days, Mr. Netanyahu faced a predicament. As Israelis debated whether the string of recent attacks by Palestinians, which appeared to lack any orchestrating group, amounted to a third intifada, or uprising, Israeli political analysts said that Mr. Netanyahu would have to calibrate his response so that it would be effective without leading to further escalation.

Netanyahu is doing enough to keep them safe.

The original Defensive Shield killed 500 Palestinians, so 1000 dead seems like a lock.

Meanwhile, the people who firebombed a Palestinian family to death are celebrating the holidays in freedom, having been rewarded for their act of terrorism with Netanyahu's grant of special legal treatment for their illegal outpost.

More rubble-bouncing in Gaza? I don't think bombing the West Bank would be a good idea. I suppose they can invade the Palestinian ghettoes again, it's been a while.

Fuck Oslo every time that they allow the illegal colonists to burn Palestinians to death or when the IDF snipes a child.

for Palestinians oh and

Earlier Sunday, police took the rare and drastic step of barring Palestinians from Jerusalem’s Old City in the wake of an attack there Saturday in which a Palestinian killed two Israelis and wounded a child and a further stabbing Sunday morning in which an Israeli teen was wounded.

That kind of sounds like thrashing around to me though. Same old, same old. He has a thin hold on power and needs to shore up support, and options for action are kind of limited at the moment with all the people having a party in Syria next door, that could get out of control, and Egypt up to it's eyeballs in ISIL wannabes from Libya and elsewhere, and Gaza just recently pounded flat. And he is likely to take casualties in the West Bank without the help of the PA. Hmmm.
