http://972mag.com/how-the-government-rewards-its-most-violent-settlers/113683/During the second Sukkot holiday and the weekend preceding it, Yesh Din investigators documented 29 incidents of assault on Palestinians and their property by Israeli civilians (note that these are only the incidents known to us). The majority of the Israeli media did not report on the incidents, which included an attempt to set the home of a Palestinian family on fire using a firebomb, as well as an assault on an ambulance near the village of Burin. In a series of cases, IDF soldiers reportedly stood idly by and did not prevent attacks on the innocent or their property, despite their legal obligation to do so.
People unfamiliar with the events in the West Bank may think that ideological violence by Israeli civilians only appears as a response to terror attacks. In reality, such attacks take place on ordinary days as well. The response of those responsible for law enforcement in the West Bank the Israeli government and the IDF is the same: to ignore Israeli law breakers as much as possible. Israeli civilians know that when they go on the prowl, not only (despite the claims of the Minister of Defense) will IDF troops treat them less harshly when they throw stones or set fields ablaze. The security forces will also aid them by using crowd-dispersal weapons against Palestinian landowners, not the trespassers who often walk into the very center of Palestinian villages. They also know that no one else will do anything to them. The chance that the complaint lodged by a Palestinian will lead to the conviction of an Israeli who commits an ideological crime is only 1.9 percent.
And they know something else too: that the government of Israel, forced to pretend to be shocked, absolutely shocked by their attacks, is not all that perturbed. Two days before the recent wave of violence erupted, the prosecution informed the High Court of Justice, in response to our petition, that not only does it have no intention of removing the outpost of Adei Ad, it actually intends to legalize it.

Every once and a while they detain a couple of Kahanists to maintain plausible deniability, but while the settlers may believe they're doing god's work, facts on the ground indicate they're doing Netanyahu's work.
Just ask the Dawabsheh family.

If they are of the right group, wink wink, then they get a mulligan.
I am really fu@king sick of these junior hasbarist assholes polluting every fu@king discussion with their sophomoric Netanyahu-brand talking points.
They fool nobody: fake liberals that they are.

(14,851 posts)Sanders Israel policy seems likely to tilt more toward Tel Aviv than that of Obama, though Sanders did boycott the address of PM Binyamin Netanyahu to Congress in March.

(26,579 posts)I'd appreciate the information. If you can't provide evidence from reputable sources, I'd appreciate it if you would stop slandering the man. Thank you.

Crunchy Frog
(26,579 posts)By posting what you did in THIS thread, you heavily implied that Sanders supports settler violence against Palestinians.
I hope you're not claiming to be a Sanders supporter, because posting such an implication, unless you can back it up factually, is absolutely disgusting.
I don't think there's a poster here who doesn't already know that all candidates of both parties, and virtually all US elected officials, profess "strong support" for Israel.

(14,851 posts)I'm afraid your in the wrong camp ... If you think he does not support Israel.....

(26,579 posts)So I'm a Sanders supporter if he gets the nomination. I did state in my last post that I am perfectly aware that he and all the other candidates of both parties "support Israel", so you're not teaching me anything new here.
Since you're on this board insinuating that Sanders supports settler violence against Palestinians, with no evidence to back this up, I would have to conclude that you're not a very good Sanders supporter, as you are practically slandering him.
I believe that he's a good and decent man, and would not appreciate your insinuations.
JMHO.

(26,579 posts)About how much Sanders supports Israel. Whether you intended it or not, it looks like you're suggesting that he supports settler violence. I don't know how else one would be expected to interpret such a post in such a thread.
You bet your ass it's NOT COOL.
