Romney: Deeply moving to be in Jerusalem, Israel's capital

US Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney delivered a foreign policy speech in Jerusalem on Sunday, saying it was a deeply moving experience to be in Jerusalem, "the capital of Israel."

Romney stated that not only did Israel and the US hold shared interests, the two countries hold "shared values," despite the 5000 miles between them.

Addressing Iran, Romney said that the US has a "solemn duty" not to let Iran's leaders act on their malevolent intentions toward Israel. He stated that history teaches that when despotic regimes secure weapons, peace gives way to violence.

Romney added that while he hopes diplomatic measures and economic sanctions will stop Iran's nuclear drive, no option should be excluded to stop a nuclear Iran.

As detailed this morning by Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Guess he's not planning on mentioning that Jews don't go to heaven in his church unless they get baptized and convert (except of course for the ones they are happy to baptize after death). So while he's preaching his bullshit, he is also believing that most of his audience, will go to hell after they die.

Rmoney is upping the ante on trying to win over Jewish voters by referring to Jerusalem as "the capital of Israel." It's dangerous to do that given the climate in the region. And a foolish move to contradict years of foriegn policy that has not defined Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Not to mention deeply offensive to all the Arabs who live there and don't consider it Israei's capital.

I'd call it a diplomatic gaffe on Rmoney's part but it wasn't. It was quite intentional. He knows the Jewish people in the US are a significant voting block but the Arabic people not so much. So he pandered to where he thinks he can get votes.

Same 'ole "I'll say anything to get elected Rmoney" we know and abhor.

His advisor implied that he shared our 'Anglo-Saxon' heritage and values, and he called himself a 'guy from Great Britain'. In between, he was rude about the Olympics, treated the Conservative Mayor of London as though he were a Democratic opponent, called the Leader of the Opposition 'Mr. Leader', and referred to the 'backside of 10 Downing Street' (don't know if the same is true in America, but in the UK, your backside is your bottom!)

I suspect the same will be true of his attempts to pander to Israel; and no doubt then Poland, and wherever else he's going. He's no foreign policy genius.

It's like Axelrod said, it sort of leaves you speechless. I'm starting to think this sort of loose mouth problem is the way it's going to be, which raises the question: "How did he ever get to be presumptive nominee in the first place?" It's not a new question, but it keeps coming up every day now that he's out in the real world.

It doesn't change my opinion of Romney though: he stands for nothing, cares for no one but himself, and shamelessly tells any audience whatever he thinks they want to hear.
