Benjamin Netanyahu Ally Would Welcome Naftali Bennett Into The Fold

By Robert Tait, Tel Aviv3:26PM GMT 20 Jan 2013

Danny Danon, the highest-ranked Right-winger in Likud's list of candidates for Tuesday's general election, said he would be comfortable serving in a government with Mr Bennett, whose populist appeal has made him the surprise package of the campaign and drained support from Mr Netanyahu, Israel's prime minister.

"Naftali Bennett was in the Likud party and many people in his party [previously] sought to run for the Knesset within the Likud," Mr Danon told The Daily Telegraph. "I think whoever will adopt the line of the government is welcome and in the past the Jewish Home used to be a part of the coalition [when it was called the National Religious Party] and I would not oppose the Jewish Home being part of the government."

"We will be responsible partners," he said last week. "We're not coming along to break up a government two months after we join it. We're not coming along to topple a right-wing government over every little thing. As long as no decision is made to hand over territory, we have no reason to leave the government."

Opinion polls have shown the Jewish Home party is poised to win up to 15 seats in the Knesset, which could make it the third biggest party and enable Mr Bennett to dictate terms to Mr Netanyahu.

Mr Danon, who described himself as close to the prime minister, said he – along with many Likud members – shared Mr Bennett's hostility to a Palestinian state and echoed his plea for Israel to annex large parts of the West Bank, where around 500,000 Jewish settlers live alongside several million Palestinians.

Of course Mr. Danon, Mr Bennett and other right weenies have an open hostility towards the Palestinians. That much is evident. The West Bank Palestinians stand in their way of total land theft of the West Bank.

I just wonder if the right weenies have ever taken into consideration that the hostility they exhibit towards the Palestinians is any different than the hostility that their ancestors faced in Europe, Russia and elsewhere throughout the ages.

The height or irony. The height of hypocrisy.
