Israeli Aircraft Strike Targets in Gaza Strip

By TIA GOLDENBERG Associated Press
JERUSALEM June 24, 2013 (AP)

Israeli aircraft pounded targets in the Gaza Strip early Monday after rockets were fired at Israel from the territory, the military said, unsettling a tenuous cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.

The military said its aircraft struck two weapons storage facilities and a rocket launch site. No injuries were reported.

Rocket fire from Gaza has declined since Israel carried out an eight-day military campaign last November in response to frequent attacks. An Egyptian-brokered cease-fire has largely held, but sporadic fire still persists.

No militant group claimed responsibility for the rocket launch, but speaking on Army Radio, Israel's chief military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yoav Mordechai blamed the militant Islamic Jihad group. Islamic Jihad has occasionally fired rockets from Gaza in the past, challenging Hamas' truce with Israel.

1. What weird kind of "rockets" are these, that do no damage?

I know, there have been rocket attacks that have done damage. But I'm asking about the vast majority that seem to be little more than firecrackers, in comparison to the usual retaliation "Israeli aircraft pounded targets" all the way up to "operations" given patriotic names. So who are these fuckers who do this, regularly, to maintain a tempo that TOTALLY gives Israel the advantage.

4. of course their "firecrackers"......

here I'll give the kind of info that you'll have to ignore, but others might find it interesting

first israel doesnt say where they land, unless it on some building where the papers will write about it anyway...since telling where they land helps the shooters adjust their aim (its called bracketing).

second, israel has a warning system that sends 100,00 people running to shelters when the rockets are fired, this tends to minimize casualties...this is what democracies do to protect it citizens.

and finally the rockets being fired are Grad rockets, military grade, no longer the "amateur" kassams.

and if you dont know that, or why....you really have zero knowledge of the I/P conflict and the motivations involved.....zero, nada......

Jews are the evil bankers, child-killers, Elders of Zion, and Nazis...

Jews aren't victims.

Now Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the PLO.....THEY are the victims!

"My policy is to harm whoever tries to harm us," Netanyahu said. "That is how we will work and will continue to act against threats that are close and threats that are far."

here's an example of how threats are dealt with

On November 18, 2012, Israeli forces dropped what appears to have been a large aerial bomb on the three-story home of the Dalu family in Gaza City, killing 10 members of the household – one man, five women, and four children. A young man and an elderly woman of the Muzannar family next door were also killed.

5. Nice headline, reporting the end of the story first...
Tue Jun 25, 2013, 02:34 PM
Jun 2013

The headline suggests Israel is the aggressor. The MSM waits until Israel responds to Hamas/IJ attacks rather than reporting on the terror attacks first.

There is significance in the order of reporting a sequence of events. Beginning with the end of a story (for example, Israeli air strikes on terror cells) is not conducive to the public’s clear understanding of cause and effect, especially in such a complex area as the Middle East. In a world in which news is distributed via the internet to audiences around the world – not necessarily with English as a first language – and in which time-poor readers often skim headlines and strap lines rather than reading entire articles in full, the choice of headline and the sequence in which the report is written is of importance to the reader’s understanding of the story.

For some reason, the ‘last – first’ method of reporting appears to be very popular with Middle East journalists in general, especially when dealing with Israeli responses to rocket fire or terror attacks. Though this style of reporting is by no means exclusive to BBC employees, it is they who are charged with ensuring that the BBC “gives information about, and increases understanding of, the world through accurate and impartial news”. That obligation to accuracy and increased understanding is not aided by the recounting of an event in reverse order.

9. More from article at link including title - Israeli Leader Dedicates School in West Bank
Tue Jun 25, 2013, 07:01 PM
Jun 2013
Israel's prime minister on Monday dedicated a school named after his late father in a West Bank settlement, days before the U.S. secretary of state is to arrive on a new peace mission.
...............................

Speaking at a ceremony in the Barkan settlement, Netanyahu said his father Benzion, a professor of Jewish history who died last year at the age of 102, always stressed the "link to our land."

"The most important thing is to deepen the roots — because from these everything grows," Netanyahu told a class of schoolchildren. "Today, we are here deepening our roots."
