The IDF spokesman confirmed that the soldier had been disciplined, but insisted that it "had nothing to do "with the videotaped incident that was distributed online." The soldier's commander reportedly told IDF Chief Rabbi Avichai Ronsky that he had attacked two of his commanders and had been court-martialed and punished for that offense, Arutz Sheva reported.
"I would have acted in the same way as David the Nahal Brigade warrior," Economy Minister Naftali Bennett reportedly wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday night. "He acted correctly."

(6,827 posts)you can see that the youths were trying to provoke the soldier. I would LOVE to see the entire footage, and not just the minute 32 that are in this video.
I am willing to bet that the youths did a lot of provoking.

(6,068 posts)towards the end of the clip the settlers come out and start sticking their hands into the Arabs' faces. One of them is a small girl. Unlike the soldier, the Arabs don't snap, and if they did you can bet your arse that you wouldnt be giving them any passes for having been provoked.
Amazing that Zionists never criticise the settlers for sending out their kids to start shit with the Arabs, but whenever the IDF kills a Palestinian kid its because the Palestinians always put their children in harm's way.

(4,139 posts)...... a group of activists who began collecting on the net signatures under the simple slogans "I'm not David of the Nahal" , feeling no need to add anything to this statement. Conversely Sarit Michaeli, the veteran spokesperson of B'Tselem , appropriated the slogan "We are all David of the Nahal": "It's time we all stop playing games. In face of the reality of the occupation, we create with our own hands the next Davids, throwing them into impossible situations. The incident never really ends. Any forceful act of pointing a gun might achieve a momentary 'calm' - but the continuation of the situation in which the IDF rules over the civilian population in Hebron and the rest of the Occupied Territories will inevitably lead to the next confrontation, which in some cases will be recorded by cameras and get into public awareness. Those who stridently demand to let the IDF win are just perpetuating a lie. As though there is any possibility of really winning such a fight, in which troops are repeatedly sent to oppress a civilian population which does not want their presence."

(90,061 posts)Members of the Israeli armed forces have taken to social media in huge numbers to support a soldier who was disciplined after video footage emerged of him kicking, swearing, and pointing a cocked weapon at Palestinian youths during a confrontation in the West Bank.
The army placed the soldier known as David Hanahlawi (Hanahlawi is slang term for a member of the Nahal Brigade he served with) under review and in response, thousands hit Facebook to post anonymous messages of support.
The incident took place in the Hebron region of the occupied West Bank and is bordering on routine in the area, where a small minority of Israeli settlers live under IDF protection among thousands of Palestinians. The outpouring of anger from Israeli army personnel about their working conditions and treatment while deployed in the West Bank, however, has not been seen in years.
In the video, a Palestinian teenager squares up to the Israeli soldier and gets involved in a brief shoving match, before the soldier raises and cocks his assault rifle then points it directly at the youth.
