Not supernatural, just odd

I use wireless speakers often, transporting them around to wherever I'm working, even outside when I work in the garden. I have two in particular that are my favorite. They are canister-type speakers.

Unfortunately, I left one outside and we had a light dusting of snow. After the speaker had snow on it, even if it was just a little, I could not get it to pair with my computer. I still had an identical speaker left, though, so it wasn't so bad. Nevertheless, I thought if I let the one I'd left outside dry out it might work again someday.

I put it in my tech cabinet, which is in the dining room. I wasn't aware that I'd left it in the "on" position.

The next day I was walking through the room and I heard a conversation coming from my closed cabinet. Momentary alarm, but then I recalled I'd put the speaker there. It had obviously dried out and decided it might work a little. As I approached the cabinet, a snippet of what was airing was, "I think we've had this conversation before."

Then my speaker died, never to be paired again. I've tried numerous times, but no luck.

One last gasp, and that's what it had to say to me.

Bye, bye, dear speaker. You served me well.

About 20 years ago, I was working late when the cleaning lady came by. She bumped into my desk which tipped over a cup of coffee. It spilled onto the keyboard of my MacBook Pro. The computer actually screamed for about 10-15 seconds then it fell silent.

I tipped the computer over and tried to dry it out. The next morning, I was able to backup the hard drive. In those days, there was an Apple dealer in NYC called TechServe and they were able to clean out the machine. I got another 3 or 4 years of service.

A close call. From that day on, drinks are verboten near my equipment!

It was in my shoulder bag and didn't take the full impact of the drop.

TechServe was awesome. I’d often get same-day service.

Unfortunately, the Apple stores and their repair services put TechServe out of business. I miss them.

Sort of funny.

The speaker was saying goodbye.

I do like it's last conversation.

Thanks for the laugh.
