he would go away. Giving him all this attention just makes it easier for average Americans to want to go to war with them. I'm all warred out.

I can only name about 2 or so wars waged because of a country's treatment of gays.

Oh wait! No, I can't!

Exposing his homophobia is not an endorsement for war, that is just a strawman argument people like to use in order to avoid pointing out a bigot's bigotry.

people, you again tried to conflate criticism of this vicious rhetoric into a call for war. That is a dishonest thing you are doing repeatedly, claiming that to say 'his words are hateful' is the same as saying 'we should go to war' is a mendacious tactic that in the end defends the speaker of the vicious rhetoric. No one here who is decrying his venom is supporting a war with Iran, yet you keep making that claim, equating the two things. If YOU can deplore the bigotry and not want war, why do you think others are not able to do that? What's so special about you, that you can deplore both bigotry and war, yet you assume others who oppose bigotry are calling for war?
Putting words into other people's mouths is called 'bearing false witness' and it is the most pernicious form of mendacity.

and your view is ignorant and very right wing like with the black/white thinking.

we can condemn the country and others for things like treatment of gays, women etc without viewing it as going to war.

In that sense, he blew it. ( Otherwise he did a good job.)

But not including the fact that H is punishable by DEATH under Iranian law makes Amadijehad ( and Iran's current legal code) seem no more menacing than a well-meaning but simple-minded American from Paducah or wherever who simply can't grasp the concept that H is natural ( for some people in every population) and therefore thinks it so much worse... on a moral and ethical plane.... than the "single lady who goes skiing alone."

(What a juxtaposition, BTW!)

The visual of the blindfolded gay teens ( that ran here and elsewhere a few months back) being hung ( what were they 16 y.o.?) would have brought the point home.

People should have come away w. a sense of the *savagery* of the anti-homosexuality in Iran. I'm pretty sure they did not.

( And, no. I'm not for war w. Iran either. Far from it.)

Look how well that turned out. Asshmadinejad is no different.

BTW, I'm all "warred" out on my brothers & sisters being killed just for being LGBT.

Your not so subtle kick in our ass's has been duly noted.
