10. How I wish that were true

It may be true for you, however for me it is not. Im in my 40's and I can only name 4-5 times in my life I have seen a family that looks mine represented in mainstream advertising. Its even rarer that you see gay couples presented as couples in a way this ad does (as a normal couple).

We still have a very long long way to go.

It's being pushed by crate and barrel (we can argue whether that's nice or cynical on their part elsewhere) to generate some attention, which it has, as evidenced by this thread, but it's not big news. By that I mean it hasn't generated "news" media attention, that's all. Yes, this kind of representation of gay couples in advertising media is rare compared to real life, and maybe that's a shame, but when has advertising been reflective of real lives?

my asshole Uncle put on Facebook that we should boycott Starbucks because they support gay marriage. I said I used to boycott Starbucks because of the cost, but now I am going to go there more often. He de-friended me, which I like- now I am not getting daily Jeebus updates.
