There is still a lot of anti-gay sentiment in the Democratic Party unfortunately.

Nothing much has changed, except that the new jury system has made it possible to put the "community standards" imprimatur on some truly wretched behavior.

to not have rights.

It's not them being discriminated in the workplace, and they can't feel what discrimination is really like, so they can't understand why someone would be asking the wife of a President to ask her husband to help secure the right to safe employment or to be able to get married, etc. LIKE RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

The reason for the alert was:

You added the following comments:

Homophobic poster telling an LGBT person to "grow the fuck up."

A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this post at Wed Jun 5, 2013, 12:32 AM, and voted 3-3 to keep it.

Thank you.

Tell same homophobe to grow the fuck up, it's hidden 4-2.

Sadly, the only consistent community standard around here is that unpopular members (and members with unpopular opinions, pretty much the same thing) may be stalked, bullied, and otherwise harassed with impunity.

than have a dedicated bunch of homophobic thugs entrenched in power. Occasionally a jury will get things right.

the idea that anything three random people happen to approve of is OK has made this place about as smart and civil as a Youtube comments thread.

I'd rather see some basic civility rules that juries are expected to enforce, simple things like "don't attack people." That might make things a little less arbitrary.
