Baylor Universitys Student Senate is pushing to revise a portion of the schools sexual misconduct policy referencing gay sexual relationships.
Though the group has approved the change, it would still have to be approved by the universitys board of regents.
The policy currently lists homosexual acts among the sexually-related conduct that could prompt disciplinary action, along with fornication and sexual abuse, assault and harassment.
But the senate last week voted to recommend dropping the homosexual acts reference and instead substitute the phrase non-marital consensual deviate sexual intercourse.

(5,756 posts)Didn't that sort of phrase used to be what was used against homosexuals in the past? Who, exactly, will be the arbiter of what is determined to be "deviant?" I don't see this change in phrasing as all that great. Why didn't they just drop all conduct policies that may have interfered with consensual acts in private? You know, something that is in line with the Supreme Court Decision in Lawrence vs. Texas. Oh, shock, we're talking about policy in TX - AGAIN.

(112,056 posts)we're talking about policy with Texas Baptists!
As the joke goes, the problem with Baptists is that they don't hold them under long enough.
(I exercise "privileged" status with that comment since I'm the son of part-time Southern Baptist minister).
Yes, I had the same reaction as you when I saw the non-marital consensual deviate sexual intercourse phrase.
