Steve Grand Funds First Album In Just 17 Hours On Kickstarter

Steve Grand was a tad humble when it came to a Kickstarter campaign funding his first album. The Southern gent though it would take a whole month to reach his $81K goal. Lolz, it took only 17 hours for fans of the gay country star to pledge $118K — about $6.8K an hour! —and that figure's still on the rise.

In less than two days, Grand's Kickstarter became one of 32 (out of over 27,000 music projects on Kickstarter) to garner more than $100,000 in funding. If this isn't the perfect story of a grassroots movement supporting an openly gay independent artist without a label, than we don't know what is.

"My fans have done it again," Grand said. "They're a game changer. They've been the driving force at every step in my career, from making 'All-American Boy' go viral to making this record possible. I am amazed and grateful."

Oh and if a fundie ever suggests you should move to Canada, assure them that the view is plenty good here too... Also he's single.
