Openly Gay Mesa PD officer killed by wrong-way driver

Brandon was active in the community, both in Mormon-dominated Mesa, and with the valley-wide LGBT community.



Officer Mendoza is the second openly gay Valley Law Enforcement Officer to die this month.

1. Police and fire and other public employees put their lives on the line every day.

True, some of them make mistakes or have poor judgement once in a while as they do their jobs, and we still have some pockets of bigotry in this nation in the general public, and within the public workforce. Not the case here. It seems this is a fine man and a tragic loss to us all.


We really must morn the loss of the good ones, the brave ones, the innocent ones struck down, and we can be proud of them all, especially those that buck old traditions or those that do NOT closet themselves away, as it seems this man did, a fine example for us all.

Such a loss.
