So please don't burn me at the stake if this is a controversial position.

I think it is almost certain that at least one adult has failed a child by the time it gets this far. Someone ignored either a cry for help, or direct evidence that the child was being harassed or harmed.

Pretending everything happens in a locker room or through private messages online seems to be a cop out.

And I certainly have my own past experience with do-nothing school officials, RE: bullying.

Doesn't seem to have changed since I was in school years ago (70's). Adults had/have a view that standing up for you will only make it worse. And you needed to learn to put a stop to it yourself. Sadly as we see here that doesn't always work. OTOH the tormentors will seek out ways to avoid the watchful eye of those who would seek to protect such kids.

Bullying is a horrible thing. And unfortunately too many schools let it go on and on and on... even beyond when things like this happen.

It invites the question, How many are enough to draw the line? To say no more?

These cases make we want to throw up.

involved and their parents. Some serious prosecuting needs to be initiated in cases like this.

There need to be laws with teeth to engage the negligence. This, will not be cured on its own.

There are some brazen sociopathic assholes in school systems that need to be eradicated. A gentle touch will not work, and many of them feel no guilt, in fact, some well might feel good about it as mission accomplished.

This, is not a gentle society, we as a nation need to quite being so damn delusional.
