Atlanta Fire Chief fired for expressing beliefs

Published on Jan 15, 2015

In the midst of everyone talking about Freedom of Speech thanks to the Charlie Hebdo attack, Atlanta just went ahead and fired their Fire Chief for expressing his interpretation of the Bible. Ex-chief Kelvin Cochran wrote a book in which he wrote two short passages on how he believes the Bible says sex is for procreation purposes, and for that, the LGBT community was outraged, calling for his termination. In the end, they won: the mayor fired Cochran. The Resident discusses.

This was banned in the Video and Multimedia Forum.

I watched that video last night in disbelief. I am quite aware that RT America won't run anything that goes counter to the opinions of Vladimir Putin. I posted the video to demonstrate how the facts surrounding an event can be altered to suit one's intent.

I think people in the LGBT Forum get the point, which is that people will ignore the truth and say what they want about you, no matter how much they have to ignore reality. You can't bury your head in the sand and pretend that that's not happening.

I think he would not have been reprimand for writing his opinions, but when he tried to fore those opinions on his employees by passing out his books to them, that went too far.
