From the Indiegogo page:
In December 2014, 26 men were arrested and tortured after a raid on a Cairo bathhouse under the "accusation" of homosexuality. The case received much media and international attention mainly for the participation of an Egyptian TV presenter, Mona Iraqi, in the crackdown. Various detainees reported being tortured and humiliated in custody, with some reporting rape and sexual assault. They were later acquitted and released but this still came at a very high price. Irrespective of wether these men belong to the LGBTIQ community or not, or if they engage in same-sex relations; the accusation and the consequent detention were enough to destroy their lives in a country where homosexuality is constantly persecuted. Social stigma, discrimination, and an immense emotional stress let alone the trauma of the human rights violations they suffered.
In February 2015, one of the released men tried to burn himself to death.
Today he lays in the hospital between life and death. The costs for the medical attention he urgently needs largely exceeds the economical possibilities of his family.
