So my wife is getting ordained this summer in the UCC church. The current church she is at was supposed to pay her as an associate (20,000 more in pay) once that happens but apparently the budget will not support this. So she is looking elsewhere. What are good cities for us? I'm moveable. I work in staffing, my degrees are in advertising, public relations, and management. I can get a job anywhere so I always told her we would go where her calling is.
That being said, where are safe places for us? She has an in person interview in Cleveland coming up which I am cool with so we would be closer to our families. She is also going to apply to a job in Santa fe. I found one in Chicago she would be good for.
But really, as a lesbian couple, where should we be looking? Keep in mind a lot of UCC churches are open and affirming but not all. We are originally both from Missouri and we definitely can't go back there right now because of the state government.
So any thoughts? We are really open to pretty much anything as long as it is the right environment and space for us. Thanks in advance!

(10,053 posts)As an ally, I can tell you that many of my lgbtq friends and family love it down here. We even have a neighborhood in Ft. Lauderdale called Wilton Manors where not only is it safe, but the police have designed a rainbow squad car to show their welcome and support of the lgbtq community.

(10,053 posts)Actually, weird all kinds of stuff, lol...
But, the Fort Lauderdale & Miami area of South Florida is pretty progressive with lots of Dems, not so much the further north you go in the state. Even if you don't move down here, please consider coming for a visit
Thank you

(2,810 posts)Its a beautiful city. People are mostly friendly. Democrats in power. The only bad thing about it is winter.
I have only been to Chicago once but I feel like I would like it.
