US Evangelical Lutheran Church installs first openly transgender bishop
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America has installed its first openly transgender bishop in a service held in San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral on Saturday.
The Rev Megan Rohrer will lead one of the church’s 65 synods, overseeing nearly 200 congregations in northern California and northern Nevada.
“My call is ... to be up to the same messy, loving things I was up to before,” Rohrer told worshippers. “But mostly, if you’ll let me, and I think you will, my hope is to love you and beyond that, to love what you love.”
Rohrer was elected in May to serve a six-year term as bishop of the Sierra Pacific Synod after its current bishop announced his retirement.

I havent been to my Lutheran Church since my previous pastor was called to Hawaii, but I love how liberal the ELCA is.
My daughter and I were literally *just* having the conversation about what religions are the most tolerant. We were in Carson Valley yesterday and looking at some of the trumper-type churches there and discussing it. Their brother and I were all baptized in Lake Tahoe when they were little.
I just sent this to them!

And my core beliefs are more Native American/Pagan... So it can be hard for me to integrate the Jesus-centric angle of most christian faiths...
Our former pastor was so good at also invoking Nature and higher Conscousness into the scripture/sermon. I still watch his streams from Hawaii now sometimes.
Yeah, when I was healing from my divorce and my kids were little, I found this gem of a place...had a preschool too with amazing people. I even worked as church secretary for a while and helped the pastor launch a wedding page for the church. He and his wife were young and tatooed...the older members had some issues for sure... I never liked how churches can be so "political" with older members infighting etc... Humans, even in church (where we're supposed to be trying our best to be loving) can really be awfully petty creatures!
