Anybody ever had thrush? Mine started as laryngitis 4 days after I

returned from 2 weeks in Cuba. Then 4 days later, it felt like my mouth was on fire and I stopped eating. Last Saturday morning, I couldn't even swallow my coffee so I went to a walk-in clinic. They couldn't do anything except take a swab to send to the lab. Yesterday, they called and said it was a yeast infection, called thrush. I now have an anti-fungal mouthwash and an appointment with my ENT tomorrow.

I'm a 9 year tonsillar cancer survivor. I've had dry mouth since the radiation treatments, but never had this before. Nothing has changed in my hours long dental care, so can't figure out what might have triggered this.

were you taking antibiotics? hlthe2b Jun 2018 #1
No antibiotics. I'm allergic to most of them. I take no prescription drugs at all. sinkingfeeling Jun 2018 #4

It happened while they were taking a long course of antibiotics. I believe that the antibiotic kills bacteria and the absence of bacteria allows the fungus to grow. That's all I know.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

My daughter got thrush as a newborn, it’s common in babies. The good thing is that the medicines are very effective.
Plus traveling plays havoc with your immune system.

i stopped using it for a while because of that, but found i couldnt really control my copd w/o it.
when i started using it again, i had a flush, but it quieted down after a few days. if i understand correctly this is a part of the normal flora that occasionally flares up.
stress can def cause this, esp in your case w underlying radiation damage.

berserk. Dry mouth contributes. My ENT thinks I got dehydrated while in Cuba or on planes. On day 5 of 10 of treatment with Nystatin.
