Not one doctor in NYC accepts Medicare ?

C-SPAN had a call-in show this morning with two ‘health care’ experts, during which people phoned in to make comments and/or ask questions.

Two callers, one male and one female, called to say they had very sick relatives who were dying and they could not get health care because there is not one doctor in all of New York City who accepts Medicare.

Being curious, I googled “doctors in NYC who accept medicare” and I found multiple websites, each with multiple pages listing doctors in NYC who accept medicare.

Yet neither of the ‘experts’ on the C-SPAN show countered the claim that there were none in NYC.

When I looked it up it was a lie, but I did notice that a lot of the doctors who did accept Medicare were people of color and women. Now that wouldn't have anything to do with it would it? If you want a white older male doctor they have an issue that is not related to medicare.

C-SPAN has not been good about correcting lies their callers tell anymore.

and it's another thing to actually do it, actually accept new patients, actually be the right speciality.

It can be hard to find certain specialties that accept Medicaid. Medicare is usually a bit easier.
