Finally. Hubby gets a real diagnosis.

I've suspected it, but finally a doctor did a culture on hubby's skin and boil issue he has had 3 times in the past year.

MRSA.

Hopefully, the dermatologist will do a better job of than his GP has (GP never even lanced the boil to drain it).

Yeah, I know...yuck. It's not a hygiene issue and his weight is smack dab in the middle of ideal.

Even so, I feel like stocking up on alcohol wipes and lysol.

Draining it should get rid of 99% of the bugs but he's still going to need antibiotics to kill the rest of them or it will recur.

Those can be so persistent. My son had MRSA. He had it drained and treated three times over a period of perhaps 6 months before he was finally rid of it. And that was the community acquired, which is more apt to be responsive to antibiotics than that acquired in the hospital.
