Do TiVo topics belong here?

I have an old TiVo with a lifetime subscription. TiVo is constantly trying to get me to upgrade to a newer unit and pay $20. a month for their service. They won't transfer the old lifetime subscription to the new box. Anyone ever had any luck getting them to bend that rule, being their is so much competition now?

1. That is the same game that our telephone dsl provider is trying.

6 years ago we got dsl, with their supplied modem, no monthly charge for the modem.
This August the state deregulated the phone company, and within one billing cycle, they want to provide a
piece of crap new modem AND charge us 7.00 a month for use!
The charge appears on every bill, I call, argue, it gets taken off, then re-appears.
They are gambling my persistence in complaining is not as great as theirs in trying to cheat me.
They will make millions on this new charge because most people do not even look at the bill details, much less complain.
