Anybody using Spectrum for internet?

Last edited Tue Aug 21, 2018, 09:21 PM - Edit history (1)

Advertising 200 mbps at very competitive pricing.

Do they use phone lines or coax?

How is customer service and how often do you have to call them?

At first when I called customer service it was a nightmare, but in the years since, okay. Don't call very often, perhaps 1 in 6 months at most...

2. Coax. If set up properly, worry free.

When they first wired up there were problems and they rewired from the pole to the house for free.

Protect all their devices with a good surge protector or better yet one integrated with UPS. Fried modems from power outages have been the extent of my issues.

Warning - if you get the 'package' (cable TV+Internet) and have a fairly old TV, it might need a firmware update.

I need new feed from the pole to the house. Think you have to bundle phone service to get that price. Phone is $30.

Haven't had to call them in the six years I've had them. $65/mo for internet... no contract. Every month they do send a mailing wanting me to add tv and phone for a total of $90/mo. I'm not a good consumer.

over the phone. Sure beats waiting for a tech to come to the house.

9. They are the 3rd company to service our enclave in the last 10 years.

And they are the best. Prior to Spectrum we had Time-Warner and they were horrible. We had a problem with dropping off the net repeatedly. SIXTEEN house calls and still not fixed. Finally somebody at Customer Service screwed up and connected me to someone who actually knew something. Came out and in about 20 minutes determined that the problem was NOT inside our house, it was between the box and where it entered my house. He told me he'd get someone out to lay new cable from the box to the house. Then some jackass at T/W decided it was to much work and marked the work-order completed! I had to call a few more times to finally get a crew out to lay new cable.

Spectrum has people who know what they are doing from Customer Service to Techs When they took over they actually laid new cable from the main junction box at the entrance to our enclave to everybody and let folks know when there was going to be an interruption. Service is rock-solid (except when one of our dogs pulls the ethernet cable out of the socket).

We did have one problem and the CS rep figured out what was wrong from the office (they had given me a new modem/router and not updated the firmware properly) and had a guy out the next morning. She also commented that she would be reporting the failure to upgrade the firmware to that groups supervisor.

I had cable and internet, the cable kept going up and up and up, so I dropped TV service. The only time I've called them is when I had the cable TV. I have no idea what speed my internet is, but it lets me stream netflix and be surfing with no problems. Internet only is 44 for me.

Peace
