I am so proud of this guy!

I've known him since a child. Not conventionally intelligent but very right-brained smart where he can put things together and he's very organized. He is a driver for UPS.

He just finished a 30-day rehab for alcohol addiction. He went in literally on his 42nd birthday and completed the program and goes to meetings every opportunity. (And he left his job to make this happen.)

And he's having some real challenges. He had to move his family (wife and 3 young children) out of a rental unit into half of his (retired) parents' home due to finances and his alcoholism. His wife is still an alcoholic, which may explain why she suddenly packed up and ran away with the kids to pursue another guy. He's reeling but still standing.

I speak to him about his strength and courage. Part of him appreciates it and the other part doesn't accept good words.

(His parents will help with the kids.) Or at the very least, visitation and hopefully prevention of his estranged wife from leaving the state with their kids. What he's trying to avoid is his wife driving the kids while under the influence.

He's so lucky to have a friend like you. I said a prayer because, well, it can't hurt.
