Feel free to read this if you like but I'm keeping it here more as a personal log of my exercise so there's nothing much interesting here. I'm posting it online here in hopes that having it up here will keep me motivated instead of hidden on my computer.

I've been on a mental and physical health upswing of late. I've suffered from depression, and anxiety for most of my life and it's ruined a heck of a lot of it, but I think I may be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. I've lost weight in the past, over 80+ lbs but I always put it back on. This time I'm more motivated and happy then before though and determined to keep it off. I've been on a strict diet and I'm forcing myself outdoors for long walks every day to 2nd day. Currently I'm doing 10 - 11 km (about 6.5 miles) walks around the city, on streets and trails, in parks and forest. It's a great for my mental health too as it shuts off the brain and is meditative. I find I've been able to combine this with my passion for photography too so it's win win.

Note: Walk denotes trip done mostly on paved surfaces vs Hikes for which the majority of the distance is on trails.

Aug 01 2013 - 5.2km - Fast Walk along spirit trail.
Aug 02 2013 - 13.5 km - Fast Walk along Marine Dr out to 19th street in West Van and back.
Aug 03 2013 - 13.2 km - Walk up Lonsdale to Braemar, along to Mt.Highway, down to 29th street, back to Lonsdale and home. Done faster than previous time.
Aug 05 2013 - 16.2 km - Walk down along Marin Dr to Taylor Way, Up Taylow Way into British Properties along Stevens Dr, down trail across Clevland Dam, along Montroayl St. to top of Lonsdale, down Lonsdale to home.

Taking a concious shift towards mountain climbs/hikes away from long city walks. The city walks burn more calories but I've reached my goal weight, now want to concentrate on fewer but more difficult and rewarding hikes. Also increased treadmill workouts to 1hr.

Things will slow down from here though. I know from previous experience that the first month or so of weight loss is usually fast then the body adjusts to it and actually resists further loss for a while before going down again. You hit plateaus along the way.

That is impressive! You walk over 10km on average. I like the fact that you have different routes planned out. Nice to have some variety in terms of what to look at.

Don't have time for the walks now. And my sprained ankle will keep me out of commission for a while too. But I'm keeping up the diet and weight loss for sure. I'm going to look into the on campus workout facilities as well.

I broke mine two years ago. Ended up not moving around much and that of course caused me to gain weight. I still managed to go from South Korea to the US and back and then to China within 6 weeks of it happening. I had to wear one of those huge boots.
