Repressed memories flood back

I gotta say, I'm having one of the most hardest nights tonight. I had a really bad memory of someone I hurt years ago just flood back into my brain over something I saw that triggered it easily. Not sure what the proper term for it is. But god the minute I saw it, my panic and anxiety skyrocketed to new levels I haven't had in a long time. So hard that my endorphins rushed to where I felt sick and lightheaded.

1. Sounds a lot like

PSTD to me.
Good luck and be sure to seek help.

2. Can it just happen from anything?

This was just a really bad falling out I had with somebody and it just flooded back. I mean does that really count as a PTSD episode?

3. I had a long forgotten pain from when I was

11 years old. It came out when I was 41 and a breakup with a lover. Explained most of my life long problems. Had a great shrink work with me.

5. Maybe ins at new job will, V

In the meantime, almost everywhere has sliding scale therapy available.

Sorry to hear you are being challanged with past memories.

This is a great example of what happens when we suppress, rather than fully process, life events. We all do it to varying degrees I think.

I hope you find a way to resolve this.

7. sounds pretty normal, tho awful.

every once in a while i will remember the moments of being a bad mom that i would do anything to take back. that's half of what i toss and turn over.
i can tell myself that i did the best i could until i turn blue but it wont help me sleep.

ditto being on the other end of the stick. i had a very close friend turn on me 15 yrs ago, and it still bugs me. it made no sense then and it makes none now.
i cant help searching for something i could have done differently at the time. the only thing i come up w is- everything.

when it happens i tell myself that some things you just have to sit with.
and that the only way forward is through.

dear one.

8. Yep

Been trying that that's what people keep telling me to stop thinking about what happened before and just go about it now

10. any chance this person wants to hear from you?

as painful as that break up was, if they called today, i would be happy to hear from them. if only to put it to rest. the whole thing hung on something that wasnt true. if they saw that, it would go a long way.

times like this i understand why time travel has always fascinated people.

12. well, maybe this person would be happy to put it in the past, too.

i'd talk to them. i'd likely kick myself later, but that's what i would do.
