1. Family issues? I know a lot of people have to deal with that during the holidays.

I seem to live in a different world than most of my family. Most of them don't appear to think too deeply about anything. If they do, they choose not to speak of it in favor of ball games and gossip. There are probably much worse ways to pass a Thanksgiving, I suppose.

2. I know what you mean since I'm also alone this year.

Being alone for the holidays (like I usually am) can be be difficult, but then I think of the alternatives such as being with my brother who gets angry easily or my right-wing BILs and I realize that I should be thankful for the peace and solitude.
