well after getting hidden yet again someone linked me here

re: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1280164212

which a post I wish I could explain in http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1017&pid=348793 ended up hidden because I reverted to a common joke between family friends and other medicated dweebs who have a sense of humor. Having Clinical Depression is horrid. So I have a natural tendency to us a joke when someone seems rather wired. On meds or off meds? That got hidden because someone was ****** over anyone joking about mental illness. For those of use who have severe depression it actually helps. So if someone wants to inject something properly worded in that discussion, sorry if it offended anyone but I have to joke about it because it helps keep me sane. I've been in the quicksand trying to work myself out of it. Which came off a bad year in 2008 which 1. our Beagle was put to sleep in Jan 30 2008, I was laid off my job Oct 20 2008, and then grandpa passed away Dec 13 2008. and dad flipped out the next year and that sent me careening into now a 7 year itch. ahem Blur. Where time just went pop . Huh it's 2016 Where the Frack did the time go. (Lexapro and Ritalin should not be taken together I was told last year. You basically turn into a Zombie and I've been on Lexapro since early 2009 or before. sigh. On Welbutrin now. Which seems to work better but not with my wicked temper. Which might be a bipolar thing but have no idea. I can feel it come over me when it happens. Seeing that nice yellow bar across the top of DU 9/10 it's a hidden. I just never had a joke about meds joke hidden before. Fortunately some nice people in the Bernie area helped me find this place and also calmed me down so I guess I should have this site as my front page

but some/many don't know how to handle the issue, either for themselves or for others; kind of political correctness gone off the rails.

Glad you found this group, PatrynXX.

Please don't worry about that yellow bar (and also, please do not look at my profile )

Lots of us have been where you are and know how frustrating it can be interacting and talking about it with people who don't understand. I'm so sorry for everything you've gone through ... so many terrible losses in such a short period of time.

I was on a combination of meds the last time a few years ago after losing my Dad - I know about the zombie thing - it's scary and frustrating.

I'm glad you're here, I don't post much but read a lot .... I hope to see you get lots of discussion. When I've really needed help a few times, the good people here were amazing.

I remember always feeling bad that I'd wasted yet another day - yet if it was someone other than myself I'd be cheering them for surviving another day - not sure why we're always so much harder on ourselves? You're here, that's what counts - and you got through a whole hell of a lot. Better times ahead.

and I still despite setbacks keep my humor up. Would Robin Williams do any different? No! When he mentions that absurd phrase I won't repeat, yes and unfortunately sometimes that voice is real as well (my dad) found the greatest of Ironies in his brother though. I'd fought and seems gone into a bad depression for it. For a Beagle for my parents and dad. He turned it against me. this being Jan 30 2008. his Brothers dog died about 8 yrs later. Jan 2016. He just did what my dad refused to do because (he was younger than his brother is now) he's to old for a dog. (he was around 60 then) Someone gave us Dogs to keep us going. Whoever you think gave us a Dog is up to you. Dog is God spelled backwards so I know who gave mine but thats me. Uncles around 66 now. He just got himself a new puppy (PUPPY, mom's been so desperate she's said maybe he can get an older dog) but here is dads brother gets a puppy (same breed) White Golden Retriever. and dads too old for dogs that get to 25 % the size of a Golden Retriever. They sure kept my weight down and my spirit up. Always been around beagles up until 2008. from the moment I was born, moms dad had a beagle. She left around 87-88 somewhere in there. another aunt and uncle also had a beagle mix. we got ours in 1997. They were my picker upper arooooo. Snoopy Maybe my uncle dads brother can get dad to budge an inch. This should be interesting. the puppy is 9 weeks old I can only Hope. and my Hope is not the sort people believe in for 2 years then wonder where it is. It's longterm hope. Some Hope you really have to work for. Hope sometimes and usually doesn't just come to you. You have to work for it. Anyway sorry about going off script a bit but that happens. between ADD and depression. the word Stop doesn't quite work in where it should.

I would love to get one, but I live an apartment. I prefer for a dog to have a yard. So I have my cat.

I've noticed, over time here, that there seems to be a small but concentrated group that will rush in to take offense and express outrage on behalf of someone else, even though they, themselves, very often have no dog in the hunt. Busy bodies, my dear ole Mom calls them.

I've seen them excoriate others for using particular words/phrases to express, what is in context a righteous outrage, and for emphasis, request or demand the "offending" word/phrase be removed. THEN, in the space of a few short days actually use that word/phrase themselves. When called on it, as I've done a few times, they will invariably jump through hoops using circular logic to justify how them doing it is OK but the other poster is still wrong. FOR DOING THE EXACT SAME THING!

I suspect you've been "busy bodied". I wouldn't be overly worried. Once they've ruined your day, they immediately move on looking for a next target...
