What's for Dinner, Wed., June 23, 2021

Mongolian beef made in the slow cooker, served over jasmine rice.

It's basically flank steak, sliced, with ginger, garlic, tamari, and chopped carrots and onions.

For dessert, 1/2 ice cream sammich.

on a big green salad with a plop of burrata cheese and fried won-ton strips on top. A crisp and cold sauv blanc on the side. Watermelon sorbet for dessert.

My boys leave on Friday for a fishing trip in Alaska. Fingers crossed I'll be making fabulous seafood in the coming weeks.

Sumac roast fish https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1022268-mahi-ba-somagh-sumac-roasted-fish made with steel head trout, accompanied by Vichy carrots and a baked potato. We had a 2020 Picpoul Pinet with it that was really nice.

The wine label said it was vegan, and apparently that has mostly to do with what is used to strain out fine impurities.

I think rainbow trout or walleye would have worked better for the fish, though.
