Making crockpot stew tomorrow
gotta get up early for prep. Not sure if I should brown the beef first.
Bought a Campbell's brand stew sauce this time. I just couldn't get the flour right consistency-wise. ![]()

5. I usually brown the beef... not sure it's necessary with beef stew.
But it might release a bit more flavor?
I've been using those prepared sauces too-- easier, and they can be tasty. There's one Thai Curry sauce that's great on chicken. Are you putting all the veggies in early? |

I don't like the consistency. Yes, I will put them in early. We're into carrots big time, in this household.

13. I switched from potatoes in stew too. More work but
Make mashed and pour stew over. So much better.

10. I coat the stew meat in flour then quick cook 2minutes in skillet then into the crockpot
One can whole tomatoes, carrots, celery, onion and garlic ( I blend onion and garlic in food processor before adding in) salt and pepper to taste buds. Also add small potatoes. Also add a bay leaf.
Writing this I realize I haven’t made stew in awhile. Might do next week. |
