Tomato soup with garbanzos and rosemary. Used my own tomatoes and cooked the garbanzos (AKA chickpeas) in the slow cooker.
Small garden salad with toasted wasabi almonds on top.
Mushroom tarts. I made them with crescent rolls so it was relatively easy, but I still had to mince up all those mushrooms, add the garlic, onion, and herbs. Actually I stayed up cooking last night until the early hours of the morning. I used a silicone cupcake pan to give the tarts a shape.
Sigh: Home cooking does take a lot of time. Not to mention all the gardening to produce something to cook!
Dessert: those chocolate covered bananas. BTW, I was asked about what brand and forgot to answer the post. It's Dole, if you can imagine that. This is the 100 calories for four slices covered in dark chocolate and they are packaged individually.
Usually I don't mention brand names because we mostly just do that here at DU but if you want to know, I'm happy to answer.

Now, on another topic, I wanted to post a pic of my new tableware. It was a gift from a friend who took me out to dinner a few nights ago. It is Villeroy and Boch.
I've been busy putting all the different pieces of the set through the dishwasher and stacking up my old plates to take to a donation place.

I inherited a well used set of 60s Royal Wessex White Ironstone Swinnerton's, missing a few broken pieces and a few very worn. Then there are the daily Japanese Dachi missing one salad plate and in very good shape. I even have the box for those.
And the service for 12 Meakin Bone China "Forget-me-not"'s probably used less than half a dozen times. Sets of china not popular, not worth what their cost at the time of purchase. The Dachi might be worth a bit parted out.
And what do I use daily? Clear glass French Arcoroc and an occasional Swinnerton.
So yes, if you enjoy something use it. No one else will. The stuff all goes to charity because everyone wants something NEW.
Dinner? Chicken legs and lentils with parsley, broccoli, kale. Managed to avoid the collards tonight. No more watermelon, no donuts, no bananas. I have apples, but they are puny and undergrown.
And yes, your new china is gorgeous with the scalloped edges and matching pattern and the multi color clover. Elegant!

(38,553 posts)But I'm going to have to come up w/ $99-$139 for the visit. And I don't think that includes prescription meds.
I'm working on finding some help with that.

(68,555 posts)I had Ravioli...didn't make it. I bought it at Whole Foods...I like the sweet potato one better. This was just OK. I made a sage and browned butter sauce...and had a fruit salad... I have some Jersey peaches that are so good. The California ones have no taste and rot but never ripen? I had water with my meal and a latte with a chocolate cup cake for dessert. Have a great evening.

(4,605 posts)Having the same old boring stuff for dinner: chicken, veggies, and boiled potatoes with butter and lemon. I did have some fried scallops a few hours ago. Yum.
Today, the food company truck driver brought us a bag full of pears from the trees in his yard! Sliced pears dipped in caramel for dessert/midnight snack. I cant wait!
