What's for Dinner, Wed., Oct. 20, 2021

Couscous "tabbouli," which has chopped tomatoes, parsley, mint, scallions, and goat cheese. I tried to make this last night, but when I made the couscous, I could see a pantry moth got into the couscous box. Was I ever mad, because I had all my ingredients chopped and prepared. This little worm that looked just like a little couscous, only longer, was squiggling. UGH!

Now I have to get new couscous.

Pantry moths are the worst things to get rid of. I am finally starting to win this war but over the years I have had to throw out so much food. Moral of the story: don't ever store bird food in your entry way. Or even close to the house.

A few slices of roasted habenero mango chicken.

Dessert: mini ice cream cone.

I didn’t even know what they were. We tracked the source down to a box of pancake mix that was laden with them and spread. I threw out all staples not in tightly sealed plastic containers, vacuumed and washed the cupboards, etc. Then I put diatomaceous earth and dried bay leaves ( a huge bag from Amazon for about $6). It’s been 2 years and so far so good. Nothing goes in without being in glass or heavy plastic. I inspect every staple before it goes in the grocery cart.

Good luck in your battle. Supposedly they can hibernate in the house for months.

Dessert: way past donut quota for the day, but that's all there is. Walmart had *no* ice cream. Empty shelves. I guess they were cleaning.

Spinach salad

FLFC ate a lot of my leg. Piece by hand fed piece. He seems weaker by the day.

My husband was in Madison, WI weekend before last and brought home a pound of raclette cheese. We had it melted, with roasted new potatoes, baguette slices, and vegetable relishes to have it on, accompanied by German pickles from Aldi. Good and filling, and relaxing to fix our morsels how we wanted and talk and sip our Sauvignon Blanc from Touraine.
