What's for Dinner, Sun., Jan. 2, 2022

The pizza I was going to have for New Year's. We had too much food that night and by the time the appetizers and salad were consumed, there was no appetite for the pizza.

Wild mushrooms and caramelized onion.

Pineapple mango kombucha.

I substituted oyster sauce for the much higher in sodium fish sauce.
I think I have it now.
Hot decafe tea.

Slow cooked in the oven with a touch of tomato based BBQ sauce and spices.
Baked sweet potato
Tossed salad with vinaigrette

FLFC was circling in the kitchen waiting the pork. He loves spicy food and we're careful about onions and garlic. I cut a bit off early and he devoured it. Later he ate more and some sweet potato. He had been snacking on Temptations much of the day.

made with ground beef since we have some in the refrigerator .

Yesterday's peas were the best I have ever made. I hope I can duplicate them next year

from yesterday, with rice pilaf and a beet/orange/arugula salad (just peeled the cooked beets - my kichen looks like a crime scene). Maybe a poached pear for dessert.

LOL. I think that's why some people buy those pre-peeled, cooked ones in a package.

I like beets and they are super-good for your health, but I often procrastinate with cooking them if I buy them, for exactly that reason. I think I might try the packaged kind.

We’re halfway home from the Outer Banks and were staying in a beachside hotel in Ocean City, MD, (hi,elleng!). Here’s our menu for our in-room dinner.

18 oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer.

The rest of our linguini and clams in a red sauce augmented with a lobster tail. Steamed broccoli on the side.

Chocolates and champagne for dessert.

Tomorrow we hope to avoid the snowstorm on our way north.

Fish sticks and french fries.

Seriously, we got a four pound bag of fish sticks from a food bank which by the way they were packaged, appeared to be institutional food and they are the best fish sticks I've ever had. Alaskan pollock fish.
