gearing up for one of the aromas I love the most

I have a batch of beans baking in the oven! I should get a pretty good whiff of goodness in about an hour.

My family will hold its annual bridge tournament tomorrow, which always involves each of us bringing a contribution for lunch. It's my year to make the baked beans.

I have been saying (for years now) that Yankee Candle should make a baked bean scented candle. Seriously--molasses, pork, onions.... who wouldn't want a candle that smells like that?

I grew up in a big family with limited means, and beans were a regular weekend dish served in my home. The aroma was one of the signs that autumn had arrived.

I’m living vicariously through you right now and remembering my mom’s baked beans. Thanks for the memory. Enjoy your tournament.
