(38,531 posts)leftover rice, to which I add finely diced aromatics (carrots, garlic, onions) and sometimes leftover vegetables (this morning it was zucchini, finely diced) and breakfast meat (sausage or ham) and then put a cheesy, over-easy egg on top.
I guess it's rice "hash"
Al is terrible at eating leftovers, so I like to re-purpose what I can since I'm the one that ends up eating them all.

(22,767 posts)Just got up again and husband is back in bed. Not sure if he already ate or not. Also not sure I feel up to eating as I have to take my 14 year old Lena to the vet for the last time this morning.
Sticking with only water since I don't think my stomach will handle much more.

(6,787 posts)Too many times I have been where you are. The heartbreak is unbearable. Fourteen years is a long time. You were both lucky to have each other.

(22,767 posts)My husband was so good this morning. He drove us there, stayed in the room with me, then went out to pay so I could have time alone with her. They weighed her first, her hyperthyroidism had reduced her from 18 lbs to only just over 5. She'd stopped eating and was only drinking a little water, not passing anything anymore, so it was time. I didn't want her to suffer a heart attack or stroke, so I decided it was time to let her go peacefully.
She was the most special kitty I've ever had in my life. I've never been so emotionally attached to any pet before. When my mom died 12 years ago, and I came back home from a week in OH with family, she became glued to my side ever after. I couldn't move around the house without her also doing so, making sure I remained within her sight at all times. And even more, the many nights snuggled up on my pillow, with her beautiful golden eyes staring back into mine so intently like she was trying to communicate, and we did in our hearts.
