Dinner Saturday Evening

We recently ate at Zahav in Philadelphia after having cooked from the first cookbook titled "Zahav". It was a wonderful meal and while there I bought the second book titled "Israeli Soul". Last night our older daughter brought over her boyfriend to meet us for the first time and I was inspired to make an entire meal from these books. Here's the menu:

5 minute hummus
home made pita bread
Eggplant with peppers
Israeli salad of cucumbers, quartered grape tomatoes, red onion, mint, dill and parsley
rice cooked in chicken broth
Zahav lamb with chickpeas and pomegranate sauce
Dessert: plum cake (from the NYT, a classic)

A success all around. And we like the boyfriend. And his dog.
