(14,889 posts)t-shirt, shorts, sandals. But keep in mind that I most likely would be wearing an apron too - just because I like them, and the tie around my waist is a nice place for my towel. Oh yeah . . . I look good!

(146,218 posts)do I put them on?
Hardly ever.
Do I ruin a lot of my clothes?
Yes.
Why? I have no idea.

(111,245 posts)or I'm working with flour and it's going everywhere. But yeah, I just never think about putting them on.
I think it was different back before we had home washer/dryer setups and people owned far less clothing, just a couple of everyday getups and one for Sunday.

(146,218 posts)hand wash those.
So I really have no excuse at all.

(70,077 posts)have made bacon while naked, but it is about the level of safety of which i am capable. i am a notorious klutz. i am always covered with bruises and cuts.
never started a big fire, but have had a few small ones. it's only a matter of time.

(20,277 posts)I have cooked bacon naked twice! I usually lay it out in a 13x9 pan and bake in the oven.
I usually have one of my ancient crappy tshirts on and shorts or sweats according to the weather. I never wear shoes.

(35,653 posts)But I don't know how much good it does since I'm notoriously forgetful and on occasion have left the room with a gas burner on under a pan.
But aprons! Love 'em and that is why I had to comment.
The resident culinary wizard gets lots of top quality aprons from his clients and employer, thus I have a whole chest full of them. They are the professional chef kind:
We have them in navy and also in white. We have bib aprons, too, but I just wrap the pictured kind around my chest if I want protection on the upper part. These aprons are so large and with such long ties that I can do that.
I love wearing aprons. It keeps me from having to spot clean my clothes.

(10,201 posts)However I do wear a chef's coat from time to time. Only if I'm going all day.
I also keep about 10 linen towels in the kitchen at all times.

(43,049 posts)one involving hot grease and nakedness that I refuse to discuss but shall never happen again.
Another involved boiling water in a glass tea mug. Everything was fine until I lifted the mug when the bottom stayed on the counter and I quite literally boiled my left foot. It was a damn big mug, too.
Fires? When the alarms go off the fire department now calls me to ask if they'd be wasting the trip.
Don't ask about knives. Just don't.

(4,741 posts)Wouldn't be caught DEAD in public in them, but good god almighty, they're probably the most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet...I run to work most days (6.2-7.2 miles depending) and it actually feels better to put them on and then do a 10-hour shift than to come home and crash on the couch.
But yeah...longsleeved jacket, bib apron, long pants, the works. Strange as it seems, keeping the sleeves down on the jacket actually makes you cooler, keeps the heat from the grill off you.
