Taco Tuesday for us. Going into the bar for $1 tacos. Will be my first time off the boat in a week, so it's time for me to shower and get out of these pajama pants, lol!

(11,360 posts)It's been pretty cold these past few days here, so I'm making a big pot of split pea soup for dinner. It's not quite as thick as fog yet, but it'll be that way by dinnertime.

(22,697 posts)I usually make something new a couple days in a row, then have the leftovers.

which can be a great treat if the originals were good, but not so great if the meals were so-so.

(28,462 posts)Made with only the finest leftover chicken, leftover sage sausage, and cream of mushroom soup. I'm improvising tonight - we'll see how it goes!
I make these improvised pies often, depending on what's leftover. Sometimes I'll use stuffing or potatoes for the top, like a shepherd's pie. But chicken pot pie demands a top similar to the Swanson chicken pot pies I was raised on. But since I'm so lazy and have no time for actual pie crusts, I cheat, using Pillsbury Crescent Rolls. It's too easy to resist and it looks pretty:

(60,014 posts)breakfast - got up and made her molasses granola currant scones
lunch - out to our favorite Indian place
dinner - pumpkin soup with toasted pumpkin seeds and multigrain bread
We kept it light - we kind of celebrated our birthdays together on Sunday (which was mine) - kids came over and cooked that day.
Now we can start to get back to eating better - Tgiving, Anniversary, Christmas, New years and two birthdays out of the way!
Back to smoothies!

And I hope you had a wonderful birthday as well, friend, and glad the kids fed you!

(12,253 posts)I trained into NYC this afternoon to size up the party venue. It has a very nice kitchen, roomy reception area, cloak room, and performance space, so it fits the bill. We are unfortunately expecting 6"-12" of snow on Friday, so I will have to move up my schedule and have all the food ready to go when they pick it up Thursday night. Afterward, the producer and I met the director and actors for my play at a rehearsal space in the theatre district and ran through the cutting they will be performing a couple of times. Everyone had places to go afterward, so I hoofed it back to Grand Central. I hope my feet don't retaliate tomorrow!

Your event sounds like it will be spectacular!
Thanks for the technique on the pork.
I worked until late tonight and didn't get home until nearly midnight, so I had leftovers my host sent home with me from the dinner party the other night. Duck cassoulet. Yum. Perfect for a freezing cold winter night.

Duck cassoulet makes me jealous! I love duck and it is the perfect dish for a cold winter night.
