Has anyone had a a reverse Osmosis filter installed?

I have installed 10-12 of them the last 3 months. All in the kitchen sink. The reason given when asked was that it makes the drinks and food cooked in the water taste better.

The machines are fairly easy to install, but are expensive, about $150-220 each and the filters are $50 a set.

Any body else know about it?

or some other caveat? I remember something like that disqualified them from my list was I was looking 20 years ago. I have always used Pure Earth 3 stage, http://www.pure-earth.com/how.html but now I use Big Berkey.

Pure Earth has a reverse osmosis system

It was just the idea that such "pure" water would make the food and /or drinks taste better.
I like my Texas hardwater! Straught from the well!
