What's for Dinner, Sun., June 11, 2017

Chinese buffet, take-out. I'm too tired to cook tonight. Gardening in the heat did a number on me.

For dessert, leftover chocolate mousse and tres leches cake from dinner at the Portuguese restaurant the other night.

I think I will make a big salad after it gets dark. The salad will be for tomorrow, though. I picked some gorgeous red leaf lettuce. I can't wait 'til my cucumbers start bearing. I was mad 'cuz I had to pay 48 cents per Persian cucumber at the Korean greengrocer. What a spoiled gardener I am, yes?

To go along with veggie burgers(pan fried) and the usual cold tea. It is kind of warm here.

I did a little outside today, but got out of the heat early.

Salad of:
Iceberg lettuce
A very ripe and tasty plum tomato
Shredded chicken
Cucumber
Celery
Bell pepper
Crumbled blue cheese.
Dressing is a store bought ranch

I am going to get some oral surgery done mid-week and the surgeon said I'd have to eat soft food, but I don't recall for how long. I'm starting to fret about that.

some kinds of pests buggering it, so it might die out before long. In the meantime, we are giving to friends and enjoying it while it lasts.

We also had grilled sausage, buttered red potatoes, oven-roasted cauliflower, home-grown cucumbers in sour cream, and home-grown tomato salad. It was a bit too much for the kitchen help (me), but it will slow down soon.

Home-grown cucumbers!!!

Re your zucchini, something that's been helping me is to keep starting certain types of plants. Zucchini for sure I would start about every 20 days. Currently I start dill, basil, and cucumber every 20 days. I put it on my calendar and just do it.

But maybe you'd like to be out of zucchini, LOL.

Once again, japple, your meal sounds so good. They remind me of the kinds of meals my grandmother would cook. Brings happy memories.

with great emphasis when describing something particularly awesome. Sometimes spelled "Nooice!!"

Dude one: "I found a gram of purple kush in a backpack at the skate park!"
Dude two: "Noooice!!!!"

I had to use the pint of strawberries I bought at the Farmers Market in Charlottesville last week-end. Red all the way through.

1. Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie and

2. Strawberry-Rhubarb Mousse.
