Fast and easy Guacamole recipe

My husband comes from Texas, so he ate a lot of guac growing up. He's a big fan of keeping it super simple, and making it fresh in front of your guests. A couple of notes of caution, you need really nice ripe avocados for this, and don't use a metal bowl. The oils in the garlic will react to the metal and give your guacamole a metallic flavour!

1. needs jalepeno!

I do like the simple version, but needs some kind of chile for a bit of heat.

2. It's pretty customizable.

You could add some finely diced jalapenos, even a dash or two of your favourite hot sauce. My hubby makes a fermented hot pepper relish (which we WILL be doing in a future video, once the hot peppers are ready in Ontario) that would add a serious kick to this basic recipe. It could also take some rough diced tomato for a little more interest.

3. Amen! Simple is best. I like a bit of chopped green onion, jalapeno, cumin and

sometimes chopped tomato, too. There are so many ways to enjoy a good avocado. In the winter, when we get good grapefruits from Texas (Sweet Scarletts!!!), we just add a little avocado to sectioned grapefruit and that makes a divine salad.

4. I wish I liked grapefruit more!

I'm the farthest thing from a picky eater, but there are a (very) few things I just don't have a taste for, and grapefruit is one of them. I did quite enjoy a grapefruit and radicchio salad at a lovely Italian restaurant once, but I'm just not a fan.

Also, a little sprinkle of chopped fresh cilantro and chive is great on guac!
