What's for Dinner, Wed., July 12, 2017

Went to a new (to us) French restaurant for an early dinner before I had to go to work. I had wild mushroom pasta and the RG had salmon with vegetables. They were topped with microgreens and herbs.

For an appetizer, we ordered vegetable soup pistou. It was so outstanding that the RG sent a glass of wine back to the chef.

The RG chose one bottle of red and a bottle of white at the wine store from across the street, as this place does not have a liquor license.

While we were having our entrees, the RG again sent another glass of wine to the chef! He was very impressed with we had what we had ordered.

We were awaiting our desserts, which were strawberry cream (there's a term for this, I just forgot what it was), and mine, which was chocolate lava cake that had orange slices on the side topped with nuts and shaved chocolate, when the chef came out to thank the RG for the wines! I just about dropped my fork because he was so gorgeous! He was tall, with nearly perfect facial features, and had this healthy, robust look. He had on a perfectly white shirt and blue jeans (the restaurant has a rather formal decor, so a bit of a contrast there .) He was from Columbia, but speaks perfect English.

He and the RG had a conversation about dining in South America, particularly Lima, which is home to four of the world's top 10 restaurants. In March, the RG and his son went there for no purpose other than dining in these four restaurants. The chef knew of all of them and even knew some of the dining innovations that had come from them, which I would love to talk about, but I am sure you have all now heard all you want of this story!

Lima was among Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre adventures last night and yes, looked like lots of good food!

I much prefer grilled corn, especially since the grill was on. Tims( name changed) had just butter dabs on his, then I wrapped both in foil. Mine had the oil/cilantro/lime. They were both excellent! It was his first time grilling corn, I am sure we'll do this again.

Tonight, organic chicken from the co-op with Ojai Valley Mayo, bio active relish, and Sticky Fingers BBQ sauce done lettuce wrap style on fresh organic head lettuce. Wow, it's the best thing since have a teriyaki chicken lettuce wrap from the Habit in Ventura!

melets with cheese and onions, home fries my dad's way (onions and Worcestershire sauce) and English muffins.
Tomorrow we'll be trying a Mexican restaurant, highly recommended, that's apparently been around for decades. i heard about it from a nurse at my woundcare clinic.
