What's for Dinner, Sun., Aug. 6, 2017

We went out for a late lunch/early dinner, and we went to Panevino, if any of you are familiar with that chain. I think it's regional to the northeast, but not sure.

I had veal meatballs with tomato sauce and an arugula-parmesan-tomato salad. The RG had chicken Milanese, which he shared with me, and was it ever delicious.

Glass of pinot grigio. Their rustic bread was very good.

We didn't sit outside, but we sat in a "garden room" next to the outdoors, which was all windows, so we could see their extensive, fabulous gardens. Whoever their gardener is taught me a new trick, which is to put vinca (the flower) at the base and add height with mandavilla. Very colorful and pretty.

Cher

and p.s. where's Galileo?

I have a very small patio on my condo. For many years I have put mandevilla in pots and trailed it along the metal bars. It is always hardy no matter the erratic "summer" weather in Colorado and beautiful with many red flowers. I love it and so do the hummingbirds.

I ate 6 ears of sweet corn picked on Friday. With butter and salt. Nothing else. Just 6 ears of corn. And for dessert a raspberry granola bar. Heaven on earth.

So in august Hoosiers pig out on homegrown sweet corn and tomatoes. Meat can wait for when the snow flies.

Spaghetti with Garlic and Cremini Mushrooms in a Creamy Sauce. Also some nice rustic bread.

There is a Panevino in Las Vegas. It too has huge windows. Very good; however, I now live in Northern California. No Chicken Milanese just lots of roosters 🐔, chickens, goats, and horses. I have to make my own meatballs now.

Just been lurking lately. Taking an internet break as of late.

Tonight is homemade pizza a la EDB: "everything but dirt". Pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, black olives, Vadalia onion, anchovies, sliced garlic. Made the dough yesterday so as to give it a slow rise in the fridge.

Sliced cold over salad greens -added dried cranberries made an EVOO dressing with lime, honey and rice vinegar. Sauteed butternut squash noodles with fresh grated nutmeg as the side.

Made a coconut poke cake today - dessert later.
