What's for Dinner, Tues., Aug. 8, 2017

Yet another Japanese restaurant. Same as last night!

It's because my friends know Japanese is my favorite food and they are still taking me out for my birthday (last week).

Yesterday's Japanese was this very extensive buffet, and their salads are so interesting and different. They make, for example, very thinly sliced, sauteed eggplant. There is a variety of sushi and sashimi, and they have 3-4 different kinds of soup (shrimp, miso, etc.) Of course, there is a bar with fish, beef, chicken, etc., but it's the dessert bar that is my favorite. Japanese desserts are only slightly sweet, which I prefer. They are small servings of about 2-inches across, and always decorated.

Perhaps some grilled zucchini with Parmesan, too. Corn and red potatoes are local grown and the dill, zucchini, cucumbers and tomatoes are courtesy of my garden.

I cooked the potatoes, diced them when they cooled. Then I mixed up some mayo with a healthy amount of fresh picked dill weed and a little dill juice from a pickle jar. I chopped some celery and sliced some Vidalia Onion VERY thin, and quartered some fresh picked grape tomatoes, folded in the dilled mayo, and voila! A little salt and pepper, and a couple of hours in the refrigerator. It really turned out lovely.

I love potato salad with red potatos.

I'll have to try this! Adding the tomatoes sounds like the icing on the cake! Thank you for sharing!

I love mashed red potatoes with garlic - I don't even peel them.

And, you are welcome!!

Ground turkey, onions, garlic, 2 Rotel hot canned tomatoes, 1can kidney beans, cooked elbow macaroni topped with cheddar cheese & last of the avocado. Half for lunch packs in the freezer. The usual beverage, cold decaf English breakfast tea.
