(130,865 posts)is a dish from the Indian subcontinent; notable in Indian and Pakistani cuisine. The main ingredient is a variety of chickpea called chana or kala chana.
Along with chickpeas, the ingredients of chana masala typically include onion, chopped tomatoes, coriander seed, garlic, chillies, ginger, dried mango powder (amchur, sometimes spelled "amchoor" , crushed pomegranate seed (anardana) and garam masala.

(11,008 posts)Easy to make, but some of the ingredients were hard to find - we ended up ordering the amchoor and black cardamom off the Internet.
So much flavor, and it makes the house smell incredible when the pressure releases.

I've started using chickpeas, lentils & curries more in my diet b/c of cost and taste. Have fun, there is likely 150,000 diffetent versions & spice/heat levels.
