What's for Dinner, Wed., July 24, 2018

We went out for a late lunch/early dinner at the Portuguese restaurant we like so much in the Ironbound. By the time I met the RG, who was coming back from Manhattan, four or five appetizers were already on the table. Among them:

Eggs Bonito (hard boiled eggs with shrimp on top--basically devilled eggs)
Russian salad (potatoes and carrots mixed together with olive oil and black and green olives over the top)
Mushroom balls with sauce
Quail balls with sauce

For an entree, I had softshell crabs.

Accompanying the meal were fresh sauteed vegetables --broccoli, green beans, yellow zucchini, all with garlic.

Also accompanying the meal was yellow rice and fresh potato chips, but we turned those down because we are doing low-carb.

No dessert, but I had a dark chocolate bar in my bag, so had a bite of that on the way home.

1. Rice and veggie leftovers.

i worked today, the first time in a month and I'm exhausted, so dinner was quickly put together without a plan.

FLFC had one of his favorites. A steak-em (sp?) over dry dog food. I find them disgusting, but 3-1/2 paws up from him. As I type this he is loudly complaining that the hasn't had his dessert. Bacon treats, now!

If I can stay up, I'm going to treat myself to some vanilla ice cream and fruit later. I'm hoping some blueberries are left.

2. Taco Tuesday

Street style. Your choice of meat. I like pork or beef ground but do chicken too. I had gbeef tonight. Warm corn tortilla.
Lots of onion and cilantro!
Pepper jack cheese.
Lime to finish.
Coconut water with lime and lotsa ice!

(Uh, I had four so no dessert tonight)
