The RG and I went shopping in the Portuguese supermarket, as we had to be in that town anyway for a package pickup. When we arrived at home, the RG quickly fixed our dinner for tonight. I even have pics.
First, there will be watermelon feta cheese salad. I am responsible for that, so I'll be making it shortly. It also has chopped up peppermint and a mixture of fresh lime juice and olive oil for the dressing.
Next up is the main entree, which is chicken thighs (my suggestion) which were browned in a pan first, then put in the oven. Topped with chopped leeks and garlic.
We found these fresh Italian long beans. Can't think of their name, but they're hard to find and thus we don't have them very often. He mixed them with olive oil and garlic, baked them, and also made a sauce to go over. The sauce is blended cream and mortadella plus something else I can't remember.
Looks like figs for dessert:
They will probably be served with cheese.
I'm drinking tart cherry kombucha tonight. Chardonnay for everyone else.

(35,645 posts)Cooking & Baking forum desperately requests a wine smiley.
p.s. I can't believe we don't have a wine smiley. Remember all those years ago (bush times) when Dems were accused of being white wine drinking, Volvo-driving elitists? Then a week later the NY Times did an article on Pat Buchanan and it revealed he drank Chardonnay and drove a Volvo.

(22,023 posts)I often imagine what your meals look like, NJCher. Especially your salads. You describe them is such succulent detail that I can envision them but the pictures make it easier.
I'm solo tonight in NYC so I'm taking the left-overs and making a stew. I know, it's 95º but I want to use up the chicken, sausages, potatoes, onions, celery, carrots and tomatoes. They're all going in a big pot with a chicken stock my landlady (!) made. (SO laughs every time I call her that.) There should be just enough to make a nice big bowl of tastiness.

I'm still hungry and there is a %#@**& box of donuts that TJ bought on the way back from my medical procedure, It is no more than an arms reach away. Willpower is not one of my personal strengths when it comes to donuts.
TJ has arisen and gone to her night shift. FLFC has elected to remain in her bed. For 6.8 pounds he has a surprising volume level, so I'll know when he wants to get up. We will discuss his menu after he arises.
